Payments Overview
SwitchLock gives you three ways to move money — choose based on who initiates the payment and where funds come from.
Three payment types
All three routes end at the same place — funds locked in escrow — but they differ in how the buyer pays and who calls the API.
| Type | Use case | Who calls the API | Buyer pays from |
|---|---|---|---|
Payment Link | Marketplace checkout, invoice payment, peer-to-peer trade | Your servergenerates the link | Their SwitchLock wallet |
EFT Checkout | Card-funded escrow via HyperPay/Oppwa gateway | Buyer's devicecompletes on widget | Debit / credit card |
Direct Deposit | Pre-fund a wallet from an external bank transfer | Your serverposts the deposit | External bank account |
Payment link lifecycle
Every payment link starts as PENDING and moves to one of three terminal states. Links expire automatically after 24 hours if the buyer does not act.
and funds moved to escrow
without payment
called reject-payment
All three terminal states are final — a cancelled or expired link cannot be reactivated. Generate a new payment link if you need to retry.
